Sterntaler

The picture is called "Sterntaler" which is the titel of a German fairytale from Grimm's Fairy Tales. As far as I know the English title is "The Star Money" or "The Star Talers".
The fairytales tells the story of a very poor but generous little girl who gives away all of her possessions in acts of good-heartedness. In the end, the stars fall to earth before her and turn into pure gold. She ends up rich.

Und noch ein bisschen Geschwafel in Deutsch: 

In der letzten Zeit bin ich leider zu absolut nichts gekommen, was irgendwie mit künstlerischer Aktivität zu tun gehabt hat - denn ich habe all meine Zeit damit verbracht, meine Doktorarbeit fertigzustellen! 

Und letzte Woche war es dann endlich soweit: Ich hab das gute Stück, mein ungeliebtes "Baby", endgültig abgegeben. Es ist schon wirklich erstaunlich, wie sehr man eine emotionale Verbindung mit etwas eingeht, was im Endeffekt "nur" ein unsäglich langer Text ist, wenn man sich nur lange genug (in meinem Fall 3 Jahre) intensiv und nahezu ausschließlich damit beschäftigt.... Eine Art Hass-Liebe, die tatsächlich schon etwas Fürsorglich-Müttlerliches annimmt. 

Jetzt bange und hoffe ich auf die Gutachten und danach die Verteidigung der Dissertation - was auch noch mal so einen Meilenstein darstellt, auf den ich auch gut verzichten könnte. Alles in allem werde ich dann wahrscheinlich im Spätsommer endlich meine Titel tragen dürfen. Hat ja auch lang genug gedauert! 

Auf jeden Fall hab ich momentan etwas mehr Zeit zur Verfügung und werde versuchen, mich auch mal wieder etwas kreativ zu beschäftigen. Ich hab zu Weihnachten ein Wacom-Tablet geschenkt bekommen und bin bisher kaum dazu gekommen, es einzuweihen. Das wird auf jeden Fall nachgeholt! 

Somit wird es wohl bald auch auf diesem Blog wieder etwas mehr Aktivität geben! XD

Endlich ein Update! - Kiss to Kill & Modern Angel (Attention: super picture heavy!)

Hello hello  everybody! :3

Long time no see! First of all: I hope all of you had lovely Christmas holidays and were able to take some time off, relax, spend time with your family, friends and loved ones. I'm sure I did!

Furthermore, I wish you all a (late) Happy New Year! May 2012 become a better year then 2011.
For me, the last year was quite a bad one, very stressful, emotionally challenging and health-wise a total catastrophe. :( I have high hopes for 2012!

Artwise, the last year hasn't been too successful as well. I barely managed to draw at all, mainly due to the time-factor, but also due to a lack of motivation and inspiration, and a crappy tablet.
But now, Santa has brought me a brand new Wacom tablet! XD OH THE LOVE! And I'm eager to try it out. So hopefully, I'll be more productive soon!

I also want to thank all of you who stayed with me during 2011! I'm still in awe to see that there are roughly 140 of you following this blog (well, more or less following, I guess!) I know I'm a horrible blogger who updates only once in a blue moon, but I have love for this blog, so I'll keep it up as long as there are still people who want to see it.

So thank you so much for putting up with me!

Anyways - as every year I offered Secret Santa gifts to my followers on DeviantArt and Tumblr, and I managed to finish 2 in time, a third one will come later on. And because it was obviously a secret, I couldn't show you an progress shots earlier. So - here's a gigantic art update!

Little Miss Catastrophe

Finally! I managed to finish my Halloween picture for this year - two weeks late.
Yeah, I procrastinate like crazy, sorry. I still like it, though.

Here are three version of it:

I unfortuantely didn't make it to finish my zombie girl before Halloween, but I just couldn't manage.  But yeah, that's how far I've gotten until today...

Halloween girl WIP

Long time no see! :D

A little WIP of a zombie-ish girl I want to use for the presentation of a few Halloween-themed designs I made.
I haven't made up my mind yet if I want her to look ghoulish green or just pale. I like both.

The title says it all, I guess! XD
I changed her hair again because I didn't like the bigger patterns and I wanted it to be more pinkish. I also took out the background pattern, I just found it to be a little too distracting.

I'm nearly done with it, the galaxy hair needs to be fixed and cleaned and, well, prettified, but it's slowly taking on the shape I wanted it to be. :D

Ah, yeah, new work in the making. I just started colouring the skin, so it still looks rough and sketchy.
She will have galaxy-hair in the end, in a dark black-blue with white stars.
